Handmade Houses

Another vintage book that I borrowed from Alex my coworker. It would make me so happy to wake up in that quilt in that cabin.

You can get it on Amazon here.

ZenBunni

One of the most memorable stores on my LA trip was the ZenBunni boutique in Topanga. It was run by husband and wife Zen and Bunni (i kid you not). They made the most beautiful jewelry and clothing and made the interior from all reclaimed objects. The most memorable highlight by far though was the RAW CHOCOLATE. Zen and Bunni decided to go raw, and the thing that they missed the most was the chocolate since apparently most raw chocolate isn't very tasty, so they formulated their own recipe, and let me tell you it was the most glorious melt in your mouth life changing experience evvvver. All ZenBunni chocolates are made with raw & organic cacao, raw & organic coconut oil, raw & organic agave, raw & organic wild bee honey, and himalayan salt.

You can order it online, stop in their store, or just take my word for it. SO GOOD!

Duct Tape Dress Form

Make your own custom dress form for $20 with some duct tape.

So Many Jars

I've ended up with a surplus of cute jars, over 200 of them. Lots and lots of tiny jars from a misstep in wedding favor planning. Jason and I have been putting artifacts from our walks through North Philly in them, and stacking them on a shelf on a wall. Then I was informed that Design Sponge had a post from Wary Meyers on making terrariums from tiny jars, and let me tell you:

WaryMeyers+DesignSponge+terrariums=love.

I'm going on a moss hunt today. Read the whole article here.

Ye Rin Mok

Ye Rin Mok's photos make me want to do a self portrait series, they make me want to use film, and they make me want to savor the ordinary.

Good Morning from Coco

Jason e-mailed me this this morning from his iphone, it's his boss' dog Coco. It made me smile really big.

Thrifted

I found these the other day while treasure hunting with Lana this past weekend. I'm always into graphic prints, so these appear to be made for me especially on that dress in that girly silhouette. I love the excitement you get when you find something perfect among the racks of clutter. I also like the idea of giving discarded things a new life.

Wild things

New music from Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for the Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack. You can listen to it here. I'm loving the choir of kids on the song.

No Joke!

I proposed THIS as a science project in 4th grade. I wanted to find nessie using sonar, I won third place in the grade wide competition mostly because the teachers thought it was cute. Apparently I was WAY ahead of my time.

Coffee & Tea

My latest venture is learning everything I can about coffee and especially tea. I'm starting by reading this classic.

Mini Diana

I love the idea of being able to take 72 photos on a standard roll of 35mm film with the new Mini Diana from lomo. Especially when it produces these lovely photos.

dots

Kusama for Commes des Garcons

A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colourful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots can't stay alone; like the communicative life of people, two or three polka-dots become movement... Polka-dots are a way to infinity. -Yayoi Kusama

Cardboard love

So simple, so lovely.
Cardboard Love.

If only

I could be as cool as this kid.

Great shoot for Style Piccoli

Have you seen the Sartorialist book? It does not disappoint.

Real Home Makeover

I'm really enjoying Jan from Poppytalk's new blog The Townhouse. I think there's a lot of people out there who want to take something old and discarded and clean it up and renew it and make it their own. To love things the way they should have been loved in the first place.

It's really lovely.

Tablet Weaving 1973

I love old craft books. One of my favorite finds is a step by step tablet weaving book. They make beautiful simple wall art.

Wigwams and Airstreams

If I were to go on vacation:

Photobooth

I'm obsessing over photobooth photos on e-bay. I like to make up stories about them. It's so Amelie-esque.

A little Huey Lewis to brighten your day.

Black Tea Latte

The best way to start a Monday morning is with a very large black tea with steamed vanilla soy milk.

Julie and Julia

blogging and food. Two of my favorite things.

Camping from Yesteryear

Campfire Girls Handbook on Etsy
I have super romantic notions of camping. I love smelling like campfire, and the way hot dogs taste when they've been cooked outside. I think these vintage etsy finds bring back that nostalgia I have of summer camp. They're the cutest.

Alternative Trailer Parks

click on the image to see it larger
Hamburg Germany has over 10,000 people living in alternative trailer parks which are essentially improvised communes of students, apprentices, musicians, actors, tai chi teachers, gardeners, punks, and hippies who define themselves as a community through their mode of living in circus wagons, lorries, and busses in the middle of the city. The interiors are catalogued in a beautiful book called Bauwagen|Mobile Squatters. I love seeing how they make use of such tiny spaces.

SNAILS!!!

Jason and I were sitting in the backyard taking a break from making wedding invitations last night when we spotted the most beautiful snails in the whole world.

LOOOK!

I just had to run upstairs and grab the camera. I'm always surprised at what great quality you can get from a point and shoot digital camera. This was taken with Jason's powershot on the macro setting. Click on the image and you should be able to see the amazing details on the shells.
